TARYN LAWSON MA, LLPC

taryn@christiancounselingbc.net

Counseling is an avenue to experience growth and hope through community. It is my privilege that individuals would allow me to come alongside them to empower them to heal mentally, physically, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually. Personal growth and change can be difficult, but I believe that through Jesus we are capable of overcoming the most difficult of circumstances.

MY GOAL:

To help children and adolescents improve and maintain mental health through emotional identification, coping skills, confidence, and hope. My goal is to show the love of Christ to each individual I encounter in order to bring glory to Him through helping others find peace.

WHAT I OFFER:

• A Bachelor of Science Psychology: Christian Counseling.

• A Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

• An understanding of multicultural differences in counseling.

• An understanding of how psychological aspects affect behavior.

• Experience with adults, youth, and teens.

• A warm and welcoming environment where you can feel safe to share your story.

• Faith-Based Christian Counseling at the request of the client.

• Techniques such as Psychoeducation, calming and coping skills, CBT, ACT, and easy to use skills to improve quality of life

MY COUNSELING APPROACH:

I approach the counseling relationship as one that is collaborative; meaning I understand the importance of allowing you to make choices that will propel you towards a positive outcome. I believe that you are the expert of your own experiences and that together we can develop ways to conquer anxiety, depression, and other concerns that you have. I work from a Cognitive-Behavioral perspective and believe that the way one thinks can alter the way one perceives their life. This approach draws from one’s thought processes and behaviors that can be changed to enjoy a more fulfilling life mentally, physically, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually.

AREAS OF FOCUS:

• Children and Adolescents

• Play Therapy

• Trauma

• Anxiety and Depression

• Self-Esteem Building

ON A PERSONAL NOTE:

have grown up in the church and have found that the one true source of hope in my life is Jesus. I am in awe of God’s creation and I enjoy seeing His beauty through nature. I have been married to my wonderful husband since 2015 and we enjoy traveling to see new scenery during our spare time. Before working as a counselor, I was a nanny for children throughout most of my teen and young adult years. These jobs have helped me understand how early development plays an important part in counseling. I am excited that counseling allows me to come alongside others and show them the love of God during the most difficult of times.
