Life is hard and sometimes we need a little help along the way. It is an honor and a privilege to come alongside you in your healing journey to become the best version of yourself.
My Goal is to provide a welcoming environment where you can feel safe to share your story. I will listen intently and will not judge you in any way. I will enter our relationship with positivity, humor at times and an eagerness to work together. I believe that everyone can benefit from counseling.
What I offer:
I have worked as a Special Education teacher for ages Birth-26 since August of 1997. Since graduating with my Master’s in Counseling, I have used my counseling training within my teaching career with individuals and families of children with disabilities. I am excited to be entering a new way of helping people through individual, child, couples and family counseling.
My first personal experience with counseling was when I was in college. Since then, I have felt a tug (must be the Holy Spirit) to help others the way my counselors have helped me to be the best version of myself and I hope that I can do that for you.
My Counseling Approach:
Our work together is relationship based where my hope is that you will allow yourself to be vulnerable and honest in order to heal and grow to your greatest potential. Counseling is a very personal process and can be difficult. But, true growth is allowing yourself to feel uncomfortable in difficult emotions so that things can get better. When we can work through our discomfort, we can grow. I have a Person- Centered counseling approach using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, talk therapy, play therapy, and other approaches in order to best meet the individual needs of the client.
Areas of focus:
Children
Adolescents and teens
Adults
Couples and Family Therapy
Divorce
Special Needs and Caregivers
Grief and loss
On a Personal Note
I have three amazing “grown” children, a dog I’m obsessed with, and enjoy living in the middle of the woods where peace surrounds me. I’m still teaching full time and very much enjoy my work in the schools. I’ve had my share of big burdens and big blessings throughout my life. God has never left me and continues to reveal how He redeems our pain. His faithfulness has gotten me through very tough times and I’m grateful for his steadfast love. In my free time I’m very social; my friends and family are very important to me. I enjoy laughing and being silly with those around me. I also enjoy live music, singing, golfing, and enjoying nature. I love exploring places both new and old.
